I don’t remember my senior year being as stressful as the high school seniors are enduring now. Did I get my first choice…. no. Did I get my second choice…. no. I looked at eight schools and probably could have looked at 20 more. It’s not quite the same as it used to be. Deadlines, common app and scholarships is enough to make your head spin.
Watching my kids from the sidelines while they play sports. Have always enjoyed watching them participate in the various activities. This I will definitely miss this if he goes far for school.
I have always been a big believer on teaching the kids to be able to do things on their own. How else are they going to learn. What they have achieved they have done on their own. We have given them guidance and consequences. Their decisions are their own and they will reap the benefits or the consequences for those same decisions.
So last summer I asked Walker where did he want to look for colleges. He had his number one and two and everything else. We have looked at eight and applying to ten. It may seem like a lot but when there are hundreds of schools he could potentially like it doesn’t seem like many. We have encouraged him to reach (as you never know). We are keeping out fingers crossed but we do have a plan B.
